Robert K. Jones

Robert was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1949. He commenced his lifelong passion for the photographic image with a Kodak Box Brownie at the age of 7. For most of his early years, he enjoyed photography as a hobby during school and family activities.

Robert pursued a more serious interest in photography in the 1970's as a trainee and assistant professional for the show dog industry under the guidance of the renowned English animal photographer, Michael Trafford. In the 1980's, Robert turned to professional commercial work as well as serving his time as a wedding and event photographer. Today, he has returned to his real passions of night and landscape photography.

Robert gained his technical knowledge through his studies with the New York Institute of Photography and Canon. Robert has been a member of the Canon Professional team for the past 15 years. For over 30 years he has pursued photography both as an amateur and professional achieving several notable distinctions.

In December 2001, Robert received an award from the International Library of Photography for his night photograph entitled "Custom Clock Tower - Boston" which will be published by the International Library of Photography in their new edition due for release in May, 2002. This image is also to be published in an edition entitled "The Road Unforeseen" due for release on August 30,2002.

In March 2002, his image, "The Five Elements" was also awarded semi-finalist status in the 2002 International Library of Photography annual competition with finals to be judged this summer. Additionally, his work has been exhibited at Boston University School of Art with one of his earlier images entitled "Illucidation" .
