Rablogan Castle
where old world heraldry, chivalry,
romance and charm still exist

The Scribbings of the Chronicler

Summer is in full swing. The weather has been unusually hot and humid and some of the crops are not do as well as expected. The season started with the grandest crop of dandelions that we have ever seen. Our early plantings suffered from uncertain weather as the temperatures oscillated between a return to winter and the full brunt of August-like summer. But the lilies thrived as did the begonia, putting on a brilliant display. The weather has been a good test for our newly arrived grape vines that will hopefully provide the necessary insight for our vineyard plantings next year. As for the harvest and our winter provisioning, we wiill have to wait and see.

Inside the castle, things have been quiet as the general humidity has made it uncomfortable to do much of anything. Perhaps the most common activity has been trying to find a place with a gentle breeze so as to be able to catch a nap and relax. We look forward to fall, the changing of the color and the cool, crisp nights..

Cors, the castle cat, has not been impressed with this summer either. He has found the heat and humidity particularly difficult to tolerate especially with his exceptional coat that has developed over the past 2 years. Whenever there is a somewhat cool breeze blowing which has been rare, he comes to life and provides adequate entertainment for all.
